Compass RE Texas, LLC

As one of the older Houston neighborhoods, Montrose has undergone significant revitalizations over the years, although buyers are still likely to find a lovely mix of brick bungalows and beautifully restored older homes. New construction is all around Montrose, though, including new townhome communities and plenty of high rise condominiums. Montrose has become synonymous with tear downs replaced with newer loft and condo homes, yet this eclectic neighborhood is still well known for its fantastic array of older homes and fantastic architecture.

Within the small Montrose neighborhood of Cortland Place, for example, all of the homes are listed on the national historic registry, and many of the surrounding neighborhoods like Avalon Place and Cherryhust also boast plenty of character and historic charm.

Students in Montrose attend the Houston Independent School District, which includes Wilson and Poe Elementary Schools, Lanier Middle School and Lamar High School.

Montrose Homes for Sale

It’s quite hard for anyone to pin down what Montrose realty is all about. It’s a place that can have quaint bungalows on one corner and a high-rise condo complex on another. It’s where old and new meet and meld beautifully, and where home buyers can find everything from a small starter home to a wonderfully restored mansion.

Montrose Real Estate Listings

Once known for its “bohemian” and artsy types, the Montrose subdivision neighborhood is home to a diverse demographic, restaurants, wine lounges, and cultural institutions. It’s often referred to as the “Heart of Houston” due to its central location, and has been rated one of the “ten great neighborhoods in America”. Here are some of the reasons why this real estate listing is in high demand.

Homes for Sale in Montrose

The variety of homes within Montrose is diverse as its residents some who have moved back from far off suburbs. Subdivision homes for sale vary from graceful old mansions, luxury patio homes, vintage bungalows, mid-rise condos, new townhouses and upscale apartments. Property values have risen in the last decade making the area a favorite choice with home buyers. Central Location Located within The Loop, Montrose is one of the most accessible neighborhoods in Houston. Residents are a short commute from key districts such as Downtown, Medical Center and Galleria. They also have easy access to main roads and freeways like Richmond Avenue, Montrose Boulevard, Southwest Freeway, Shepherd Drive, Allen Parkway and Westheimer Road.

Vibrant Retail and Entertainment

Montrose is home to upscale restaurants, boutiques, music bars and countless eateries. More entertainment hotspots are in Rice Military, Galleria and downtown which is a short distance away. In addition, Montrose is home to art museums and festivals such as Houston’s Museum of Fine Arts, the Menil Collection, the Contemporary Arts Museum and the Holocaust Museum.

Great Schools

Students in the area can study in private or HISD public schools and universities. They include The University of St. Thomas, Annunciation Orthodox School, St. Stephens Episcopal, St. Ann’s School and the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (HSPVA).

The lack of zoning, wide variety of home designs and rising property values can make Montrose a complex neighborhood for prospective home buyers. Some blocks are near busy establishments like pubs which bring up issues of loud noise/music and parking problems.
