Lakewood Homes for Sale

The diverse architectural styles displayed in Lakewood take buyers and residents back to the beginning of the twentieth century. This is one of Dallas oldest neighborhoods and development dates back to between the 1900s to the 1950s. Lakewood is one of the best neighborhoods in Dallas to find Bungalow, Craftsman, and Tudor style homes for sale. Builders of newer constructions follow vernacular style designs that help keep the areas old-world charm. There are also smaller one-story cottages as well as large mansions close to White Rock Lake. Some neighborhoods within Lakewood have conservation and historic districts. Home pricing in Lakewood varies depending on size, location, age, upgrades, and condition.

Homeowners Association

Lakewood prides itself for its love of the lake and the wooded hilly terrain that surrounds it. Encompassing roughly 2,900 residents, the Lakewood Neighborhood Association (LNA) is one of the largest HOAs in Dallas. In 2013, this neighborhood ranked 9th on CNN Money's list of "Best big-city" neighborhoods. Residents enjoy the best 4th of July parade outside of Washington DC. There's also an annual kids' Easter Egg Hunt, and other neighborhood events and parties.

Parks and Recreation

The Dallas Area Rapid Transit system is the best alternative to driving. You can take the DART during city events and concerts from Mockingbird Station only five minutes away. The natural beauty of the neighborhood's own Tietze Park is the pride of Lakewood. Park amenities include a public pool, shaded picnic areas, historic stone pavilion, lighted sports courts and fields, and playgrounds. The active Lakewood Heights Neighborhood Association and the Friends of Tietze Park Foundation often host neighborhood and community events in the park throughout the year. For avid golfers, the Lakewood Country Club is within this neighborhood.

Kid-friendly activities are aplenty at Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, one of Dallas' best attractions. This attraction boasts year-long seasonal exhibits including a huge autumn festival featuring life-size fairy tale pumpkin houses. During the summer months, Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden host outdoor concerts. For those days when you want a nice long walk or jog, smack in the middle of the urban jungle is Katy Trail. The 2.2-mile corridor is 12-feet wide and is paved to help you perfect your jogging.

Shopping and Dining

The eccentricity of Lakewood is evident in the local shops. Swing by cute boutiques such as Ditto boutique and Debutantes and Cowboys.
