Junius Heights Homes for Sale

C.H. Munger developed this neighborhood which encompasses over 700 structures on 190 acres. It’s the largest historic district in Dallas. The majority of homes for sale were built between 1906 and 1940, with a few new constructions thrown in. Junius Heights features the largest collection of Arts and Craftsman homes in the southwest. The area showcases Prairie and Tudor styles. The perfectly lined front porches encourage residents to socialize with neighbors. This throwback is to an earlier time rarely felt in such urban settings.

Many of the large homes from the 1920s have been remodeled, updated, and brought back to life. Some of the homes for sale feature brass fixtures, bands of diamond-paned casement windows, ornate doors, and one- and two-story columns. There’s even a house built from Frank Lloyd Wright's plans originally published in the Ladies Home Journal. Restoration in Junius Heights began in 1970 the same as rejuvenation in Swiss Avenue. Although the results have not been as dramatic, restoration continues to flourish.

Homeowners Association

Residents of Junius Heights boast of an active neighborhood association that obtained historic designation in May 2005. This made it Dallas’ newest and largest historic district. Residents enjoy planned community living at its best. Other benefits of living in this community include shared amenities and services at a low cost, strong property values, and other neighborhood events and parties.

Junius Heights Community Highlights

Because of the proximity to restaurants and retail outlets, Junius Heights residents feel like they live in a city within a city. The Garden Cafe is a walking distance from every home, while Matt's Rancho Martinez is a foodies' favorite. Other go-to restaurants include Ali Baba, Penne Pomodoro, and Legal Grounds coffeehouse. Neighborhood favorites include Lakewood Theater and the Balcony Club. Residents gather at Lakewood library to watch the Lakewood Country fireworks every July.

Residents walk or bike to White Rock Lake to sail a boat or for some easy exploration. For a slow start, you can sidle up to the water with a picnic basket and relax. For a more active lifestyle, bike around the lake's 10 miles of paved paths or get onto the water and paddleboard or kayaking. Located near White Rock Lake is the 66-acre Dallas Arboretum. The scenic garden features 2,400 varieties of plants and offers marvelous views and a rock garden concert pavilion.

Junius Heights Schools

Located in the outstanding Dallas ISD, the community is home to Lakewood Elementary and William Lipscomb Elementary. Students complete their public school education at nearby J L Long Middle School and Woodrow Wilson High School. Locals are free to use the Dallas Public Library. The 10-story library houses one of the largest genealogical research section in the Southwest. It also hosts an original copy of the Declaration of Independence.
