Stafford Homes for Sale

In 1995, the city of Stafford decided to stop levying non-school property taxes. As a result, home buyers could benefit in lower home mortgage payments, and more businesses began to set up operations in the city. Homes for sale in Stafford feature 3 to 4 bedrooms spread over from 1,000 to over 3,000 square feet in living space. Lot sizes range from 3,000 to over 50,000 square feet. The community showcases different architectural styles, though most residences lean towards single-family traditional designs. Home prices range from the low six-figure range to the high six-figure range.

After the city's incorporation in 1956, Stafford became a home-rule city with a mayor-council type government. Deed restrictions, intelligent zoning ordinances, and commercial property regulations have helped preserve the value and appearance of the neighborhoods.

Living in Stafford and Community Highlights

A verdant greenbelt forms part of the community and residents can enjoy the parks and walking trails Stafford has to offer. The community has designated 35-acres of green space as municipal parks. The 16-acre Stafford City Park features baseball and softball fields, basketball courts, a pavilion, playground equipment, among other amenities. Other popular outdoor entertainment venues include Gordon Fountain Lake Park, Vaccaro Manor Park, and Stafford Centre.

Located next door to Stafford City Hall is the Margaret Havens Historical Memorial Garden. Its rose garden, benches, and fountain are popular with wedding events. The Stafford Centre Performing Arts Theatre and Convention Centre boasts a 1,100-seat theater with over 28-acres of outdoor festival green space. Besides, Stafford homes are only minutes away from bars, cafes, and retail centers.

Business and Employment Centers

Despite being known as a bedroom community, Stafford has a large volume of commercial activity that keeps the local economy running. Many corporations both large and small maintain significant operations in the city. Stafford features 15 business parks, and companies that operate beyond the city limits include UPS, Tyco, General Technologies Inc. and Seamer Divers. According to NerdWallet, Stafford is third in its list of "Best Places to Start a Business in Texas".

Stafford Schools

The city is zoned to Stafford Municipal District, which is the only municipal school district in all Texas. Private education options are also available within the city.
