Idylwood Lifestyle

The Idylwood area consists of some of the city's most desired and high-end neighborhoods. This is because of proximity to the Texas Medical Center, Downtown, Hermann Park, the Museum District, and The University of Houston. Tree-lined streets are common and many of Houston's finer restaurants are within the Inner Loop.

A verdant greenbelt forms part of the community where residents can enjoy the parks and walking trails Idylwood has to offer. Majestic oaks, sturdy-limbed hickories, and slender pine trees dominate this bit of woodland. Along the eastern edge, Brays Bayou with its charming wooded banks adds splendor to the area. The beautiful Villa de Matel is framed against a background of towering pines, and overlooking Idylwood on the north is the green expanse of the Houston Country Club. Such picturesque surroundings suggest Idylwood is a world apart from the busy noisy city.

Civic Club

Idylwood enjoys the benefits of an active Civic Club. The club coordinates with the City of Houston and other service groups to provide a safe environment for residents. The Civic Club also enforces deed restrictions in the area when necessary.

Idylwood Schools

A diverse selection of educational institutions serves the neighborhood. The Houston ISD serves Idylwood with great schools which include J.P. Henderson Elementary, Navarro Middle School, and Austin High School.
