Highland Park Homes for Sale

Renowned landscape architect Wilbur David Cook developed this neighborhood with lush, tree-lined streets and a vast landscape. Construction of homes for sale dates back to the 1920s. Some of Dallas best architects who created eclectic homes of English, French, Mediterranean and neoclassical styles, designed these homes. Older homes are continually restored and torn down to accommodate larger homes in the same style. Newer constructions follow vernacular style designs that help keep the areas old-world charm.

A traditional area of the community lies north of Mockingbird Lane. The area features beautiful homes adjoining Dallas Country Club and next to the areas winding creeks. On the other side of Dallas North Tollway in West Highland Park, homes for sale include well-maintained, stylish homes dating back to mid-century. The 100-acre section tends to be the preferred destination by older residents and young professionals. If you're looking for a condo or townhome, you'll find them around Lomo Alto, Abbot, Cole or Roland Avenues is ideal.

Shopping and Dining

For shopping enthusiasts, Dallas is home to more shops than you can shake a stick at. The historic Highland Park Village is recognized as the first shopping center in America. It's home to restaurants, high-end boutiques, and a movie theater. The upscale theater offers a laid-back movie night for those wanting to slip away. Located just north of Highland Park is Plaza at Preston Center. This is the local destination for local boutiques, restaurants, and national brands.

Foodies appreciate the fact that Highland Park Village is the main gathering spot for foodies with several local eateries, tearooms, bistros, and pizzerias. For a great grilled sandwich, malt or ice cream float, head to Highland Park Soda Fountain. During the high school football season, visitors and locals alike flock to Javier's Gourmet Mexicano for great, traditional south of the Border Fare.

Parks and Recreation

In the spring and fall when the weather is moderate and the sun shines for long hours, local parks, sprawling backyards, private and public pools, playgrounds, walking trails, grassy lawns, ponds and creeks all come alive with people. Turtle Creek runs through the heart of this community, filling a visitor with awe at the sight of the azaleas and grand homes along with the parks and linear lakes created by the creek. Hackberry Creek is a rugged tributary that winds through natural limestone banks. Parks and tennis courts have been carved from it.

Highland Park Schools

Located in Highland Park ISD, the community is home to Bradfield Elementary School. Students complete their public school education at nearby Highland Park Middle, Mcculloch Intermediate School, and Highland Park High School. There’re several institutions of higher learning in Dallas. They include Southern Methodist University, the University of Dallas, Bishop College and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School.
